Sayonara Nagoya

December 28, 2008 at 9:18 am (Japan, Lahat, Random Thoughts, Temple) (, , , , , , , , , )

What am I going to miss in Nagoya??

Well, Nagoya played a very big part in my life.. Ive experienced one of the hottest days in Japan, seen many girls in skirts or short shorts, pekpekshorts as they say, ate at different famous restaurants in Japan, seen Filipino Night Clubs Paro-Paro, met new friends, met a Japanese who is very good in English, spent so much on foods and travels, seen new temples, seen a castle, seen a Tower (Nagoya Tower, even first than the famous Tokyo Tower), entered a Japanese School, seen botiques that I never even want to enter, ate Takoyaki, failed at dieting, arrived at home first than the rest of my friends (20 minute travel time to and from the office), went inside a very very very big Karaoke house, seen boys prettier than girls whose eyebrows are more kikay than girls’, lived in a place where fashion is very common and just by standing with them makes me feel like an alalay, never even went around the place so much, never experienced going to the Amusement park, where soda is a must, drinking coffee for free, started smoking again, never did drink on my own, ate at macdonalds everyday, experienced hanging out with foreigners, seen odd english posters, experienced company parties, twice, and alot more…

Nagoya offers a lot of sight viewing places like the Nagoya Castle, Nagoya Tower, the Twin Tower Takashimaya, Spiral Building, Spiral something, temples, tall statue that wears different attires depending on the occassion, and more..

Here are some of the places that Ive been to here in Nagoya:

so there.. Im going to miss Nagoya.. Its cold weather, people I became close to, all the poeple Ive talked to, girls who wear less clothes even if its cold, and the 20-minute travel time company that Ive worked to…

And who knows, maybe Ill be able to work here again.. But as of now, priorities are priorities.. So If ever that Ill be back here in Nagoya again, I promised myself to go to places Ive never been to.. So hopefully, theres another chance for me to do that..

Homeless Guy

December 26, 2008 at 7:12 pm (Japan, Lahat, Random Thoughts)

Well, on saturday I will say Sayonara to Nagoya and Youkoso to Tokyo.. So today is my last night here in Nagoya, and I prepared all my things and am ready to transfer to a new home.. Those things included the rice cooker, my office attire, my cooking materials, some books, and finally, my bed or what we call here futon.. Im going to leave as early as 7am tomorrow to catch the bus going to Tokyo at around 8.30 am.. And someone from the logistics company will get my box and transfer it to my new apartment in Tokyo… Sad to say I will not be able to handle the transactions because I will leave early.. Good thing that my roommate Demsen is available and that I asked him to do it for me..

Right now, I already packed my futon, and guess how I am going to sleep tonight??

Karton at rag...

Karton at rag...

So yeah, no joking, tonight I will sleep using a box that will serve as my comfort for the night.. Hmm, feel like Im homeless right now.. Though not totally because Im still sleeping in a room, though its cold tonight and Winter season is just a few days away.. So hopefully, I can sleep well and be able to wake up not feeling tired or nothing aching in my body… Im thinking is this the price that I have to pay for not being a good employee?? ahaha.. nevermind..

Good thing that the package will be delivered as early as the next day, So I dont have to worry about sleeping on a box for another 3 days or so.. Hopefully, nothing bad will happen during the transfer of the things so that I can use the futon as early as possible..

So tonight, I will feel what homeless people, or Hobo as my friend Demsen said, feels when they are sleeping on the streets, feeling cold, everybody looking at them, and dirty.. Nah.. Im not that dirty… And later if it gets really cold, I’ll ask my friend if we can use the heater so that it will lessen my loneliness of feeling like a homeless guy.. hehe..

Ja, gonna sleep early tonight.. Dont want to miss the bus.. Its going to be a hassle if I dont make it in time..

Oyasumi…

On the other news, remember the tall statue in my previous posts?? Well, she now wears this new outfit.. Its for the Winter Clearance this month.. Here is the pic:

Christmas Time

December 23, 2008 at 7:25 am (Japan, Lahat, Random Thoughts) (, , , )

Sad to say, Im not gonna be able to see my family this Christmas.. Though they are just a phonecall away, its still different when you are with them.. Going to the Simbang Gabi together, eating foods together, receiving gifts from them, opening your gift, not being surprised with your gift coz you are the one who wrapped it, having fun with them, and alot more.. Wow, this is my first time spending my Christmas alone.. Hmm, and I guess theres nothing I can do about it…

Here in Nagoya, as early as December 1, alot of posters, christmas lights, christmas trees, and designs had been put up in celebration for the upcoming Christmas.. And at night, it seems like theres always an event sa sobrang dami ng ilaw sa kalsada.. And in the walkway near my office, where the big statue stands, are two Christmas Trees, one color blue and another color red.. Even the statue is wearing a Christmas Attire.. In Nagoya eki, there are mini Christmas trees that changes colors every minute or so, and theres a display on the top.. Nagoya is very lively at night.. Napaka ganda lalo.. What more pa kaya sa Sakae… Hmm, wanna see the view there.. ehehe..

Here are some of the pictures I collected:

Noticed the white lights below it?? Thats 3 Christmas Trees, and alot of flowers with very bright christmas lights that changes color… On the middle is a Christmas light matrix that changes its drawing..

Very Original... Look in the Middle Building.. See the shape of the open lights

Natawa ako dun sa last pic..

As for my handa, I will just cook a Carbonara.. Masaya na ako sa Carbonara.. Hehe.. Madali lang kasing iluto, I can use the ingredients I want, and kung inde man masarap, ok lang kasi ako lang naman kakain.. ahaha.. Sad to say, may pasok pa din kami sa office kahit Christmas.. Kaya goodluck nalang samin diba.. ehehe..

Ja, sa lahat, Merry Christmas!!!

**Special Greeting, Happy Birthday Kuya Pot.. ehehe… Bday din nya kasi sa Deceber 25.. ehehe

Palakihan ng ano…

Best Statue so far..

Here in Nagoya, fashion is never neglected.. Everyday you will see alot of people with their high heels, or boots since its cold that costs more than a DSLR camera, short shorts, stylish hair, makeups, designer bags etc.. And I notice, inde nagpapahuli kahit mga manikin..

Everyday, while going to the office, I always pass by this very very big statue, which is very famous here in Nagoya. I dont know its name, but its a girl, i knew just by looking at the attires she’s wearing.. So almost every month, sometimes every week, the statue’s attire is changed.. It depends on the season or some events that the this statue’s attire is attractive.. And I kinda notice na nakiki-in ang statwa na to… Here are some of the pictures that I and my friend Ate Beth collected for the past few months:

Inde ko alam kung anu okasyon nito..

So right now, I dont know if they are going to change the latest attire.. Since its christmas, I think that it will stay the same until next year.. Sadly, I will not be able to take a look at its new attire..

BTW, foreigners dont let the chance pass by if ever they come accross this statue.. Picture here, picture there, picture everywhere.. So I dont need to have a picture with the statue cause its obvious that some of the pictures are taken by me.. ehehe..

So if ever you come across this statue when you visit Nagoya, have a picture with it.. ehehe.. It is located near the Meitetsu Building, and on the other side of the Spiral Building.. So if you see this spiral looking building, then you’re very near it already..

Ill try to ask my friend Demsen if he can take its picture by the time when Im gone.. ehehe..

If I were a Girl

December 10, 2008 at 9:03 pm (Lahat, Random Thoughts) (, , )

Last week, I checked out my friend’s post, Glad, and saw this amazing rendition of the song If I Were a Boy by Beyonce… After hearing that, I became addicted to the song.. So addicted, that I watched that video for almost 20 times.. No kidding.. I looked up for the original video of the song, and it pleased me more.. Beyonce, making another hit song, has became more popular recently.. Releasing new albums, new looks, new songs, and to top it all, almost all of her songs are really good.. Too bad I dont buy CD’s and stuffs.. And with regards to this song, Im really touched by the lyrics and the way she sang it.. Though I think that the rendition of Rin on the Rox has more higher notes and is much better than Beyonce’s, but if you happen to watch the video, then you’ll soon realize the effect of the lyrics.. Here is the original video by Beyonce, entitled If I were a Boy..

And this is the rendition of Rin on the Rox… For guys out there, focus on the song ok.. The Song!!! ehehe..

I became addicted to this song that after getting a mp3 copy, thanks again to Glad, I just played it over and over and over again.. Literally, thats the only song Im playing on Itunes right now.. And I play it everytime I chat, browse, eat, and sleep.. So you may say, “Dont you get sick of that song??”, and you will be surprised if I say no.. ehehe…

For the past few years, these kind of songs have been anti-ed by the opposite sex.. For example, the song No Scrubs by TLC has been answered by the song No Pigeons by Sporty Thievz.. The song Irreplaceable by Beyonce, has been answered by the song Irreplaceable (Male Version) by Neyo… And this time, since Ive been hearing this song alot, I wonder, why not edit the lyrics, and make it from the Boys Point of View..

So I looked up for the lyrics of the song, and I just edited some of the words and made up with this lyrics..

If I were a girl
Even just for a day
I would wake up every morning
Go anywhere I wanted to go
Party with the gals
And look out for boys
I would dance with who I wanted
For sure I will never get bored at it
Cause they’re attracted to me

If I were a girl
I think I could understand
How it feels to be loved back
I swear I’d be a better girl
I’ll be honest to him
Cause I know how it feels
When you lose the one you wanted
Cause she flirted with somebody
And everything you had got destroyed

If I were a girl
I would turn on my phone
Not pretending that its broken
So they wont think
Im sleeping with a boy
And after my work
Ill contact him as I go
Cause I know that he’d be waiting
Waiting for me to come home (to come home)

If I were a girl
I think I could understand
How it feels to be loved back
I swear I’d be a better girl
Ill be honest to him
Cause I know how it feels
When you lose the one you wanted
Cause she flirted with somebody
And everything you had got destroyed

It is never too late for you to come back
I know its a mistake
And Ill forgive you for that
If you thought I would wait for you
You are right

But you are a girl
You don’t understand (yea you don’t understand)
How it feels to be loved back
Someday you’ll wish you were a better girl
You’re not honest to him
You dont know how it feels
Until you lose the one you wanted
Cause you flirted with somebody
And everything you had got destroyed
And youre really a girl…

Its not that good, or maybe for you it doesnt have any meaning at all.. Well for me, hmm, also none.. ehehe.. Ala lang akong magawa kaya go lang ng go.. ehehehe.. Medyo panget lang yung naipalit kong words, but i think its ok.. ehehe..

So there.. this is just another Walang kuwenta post of mine.. ehehe…

Money Money Money!!

December 8, 2008 at 8:13 pm (Japan, Random Thoughts) (, , )

Money is the source of evil… as they say..Do you believe that?? Or Money is everything for you?? Well, as for me, it depends on the person on what he thinks of money.. For example, a poor person will think of money as a means of feeding their family, to survive, to live.. While a person with alot of money who still wants more money is plain greedy… On the other hand, a person with alot of money who wants more money to help poor people is kind.. And a person who doesnt have enough money but buys anything he wants is just suicidal…

Well, Im not here to discuss those kind of people, rather to share to you guys the money here in Japan..

MONEY!!!

MONEY!!!

LAPAD.. One of the first answers you’ll hear when you ask what Japan is.. Even before going here in Japan, alot of people were asking me to give them LAPAD.. And i asked one of them.. “What is that LAPAD??”.. Then that person told me that its the biggest amount of Japanese Money… It is called LAPAD because its size is bigger compared to the other money… I havent seen any Japan money yet that time, thats why I dont know what it look like.. So I was very anxious to see one.. Specially, tha t LAPAD…

Then after receiving my first money, I thought to myself. “Wow, so this is the LAPAD they were talking about..” And by description, yes it really is bigger than the 1kyen or 5kyen bill.. I dont know why they designed it that way.. I’ll try to ask one of my officemate for that…

1 Lapad

1 Lapad

So what is the worth of Japan Money?? Well, alot.. First, the conversion of Japan Yen to Philippine Peso is almost half (based current exchange rate).. And that money can buy you anything you want or can make you travel around Japn.. From Gadgets to books, to places like Nagoya and Hokkaido.. So you can do alot of things using that money…So what do I do with the money I receive?? Of course I buy the things I needed and also give support to my family so that they’ll have extra money around the house, and also to share my blessings to them.. I mean, up until now, I was able to buy alot of things that I wasnt able when I was in the Philippines.. Like laptop, cameras, and more.. Also, there are the necessary things like foods, clothes, bike? ehehe.. Ans also, I was able to send money to my family in the Philippines..

5k Yen

5k Yen

Compared to the Philippines, the salary here is bigger, and better.. Thats why alot of people have been trying to work here in Japan whatever it costs.. But sad to say, that money cannot buy you happiness in here.. There have been alot of people, who wishes to go back to the Philippines because they miss their families.. Also, there are those who just cant stand the Japanese Culture and are forced to leave Japan.. As for me, well, I dont know,.. I became used to their customs.. Its just the people I work with who I find difficult to deal with.. Hehe..

1k Yen

1k Yen

The 1k yen.. The most used money here in Japan.. Well, most of the time, people tend to use this bill whenever paying for something they bought.. I dont know, Its like the 100 pesos in the Philippines,.. That even when buying a 20 peso worth of item, youll pay with a 100 peso bill… By the way, the 1k bill is the 4th highest bill in the Japanese Money System.. Of course, the highest is the 10k yen, or the LAPAD.. After the 1k yen bill, are coins… Starting with the biggest, 500, 100, 50, 10, 5, and 1..

Coins

Coins

Coins here are also important.. They can be used when buying in vending machines, or when in a 100 yen shop, and many more.. As for me, I tend to pay with my coins first, rather than bills.. Its very heavy if you have alot of bills, and Im pretty sure you dont want your pocket to make a sound whenever you are walking… hehe..

2k Yen Front

2k Yen Front

There are also special money here in Japan.. One of them is the 2k yen bill.. Well, its not really that special.. Its just that its rare to see one.. So comparing to the Philippines, its like the first release of the 10 peso coin and the 200 peso bill.. At first, you wont believe if it is real money… But after everyone had gotten hold of it, itll be back to normal again.. As for the 2k yen bill, this is the only one Ive seen so far.. One cool thing about it is the design at the back.. Here, take a look:

2k Yen Back

2k Yen Back

.
There is a design in the lower left like a Japanese writing, that even I cant read.. So there..
Another special money in Japan is this coin, the 100 Yen coin specially made for the 1964 Olympics in Tokyo..

100 Yen Back

100 Yen Back

My friend showed it to me and I was amazed… But he said that you cannot use it.. I dont know if he was talking about the past, that only during the Olympics season that the coin can be used, or the coin is just plainly for collectible sake.. Well, I dont have a piece of that, so I will not waste my time and think about it.. ehehe..

100 Yen Front

100 Yen Front

Lately it occurred to me that I havent saved my own money yet.. I mean, Ive been in Japan for almost 9 months this December, and I dont have a single yen in my account that can be considered as savings.. One reason is that, I used all of my money for foods, travels, and fun.. But I dont regret using all of it in those events.. Im happy that Im able to do alot of things with that money.. And I will not consider those times as a waste, rather a good memory that will last… So what am I talking about?? Hehe.. Well, for the past few months, Ive been assigned to work in Nagoya.. But my friends are all living somewhere in Kamakura.. So every month, whenever there are consecutive hollidays here in Japan, I visit my friends and we go to places like Disney Sea, Yokohama Sea Paradise, Temples, and other more places.. So those were the only time per month that Ill be able to see them.. Of course, it will cost me alot of money that can be considered as my savings.. But I am willing to spend all of my money just to be with my friends.. Because I really do miss them, and I just cant bare it when I dont see them even once per month.. hehe..

Money For this Month!!

Money For this Month!!

So my friend Dabbie helped me with my problem with money.. Well, its not actually a problem, but she forced me to save the maximum money I can save per month.. After receiving my salary for last month, we talked via Skype and wrote in a paper all the things that I will spend my money for this month.. So that included the Year-End Party for our company, our own Christmas Party in Kamakura, our trip to Disney Land next year, my food for this month, and other more stuffs.. And we were able to compute my target savings for this month.. So using those envelopes, I were able to limit my money and  on were to spend them.. And funny thig is, for example I will buy a food, I will use the money in that envelope to pay for the food, and return the change inside it.. So its like having alot of wallets depending on what you will spend on to.. ehehe.. But its really effective.. though I just used it twice up until now.. ehehe.. So lets see if I can manage my own money as well.. ehehe..

So thanks to her, I now have something to put in my savings, and hopefully this continues until next year.. ehehe… And I advise all of you guys, to save some money too.. For your future… For your plans.. and For your family… ehehe.

JLPT

December 7, 2008 at 7:59 pm (Japan, Lahat, Random Thoughts) (, , , )

Yey, finally, the JLPT (Japanese Language Proficiency Test ) is over… What can I say.. Hmm, it was not that hard but not that easy as well.. As of now I dont want to expect that I’ll pass, but I do hope that I pass.. It was a very rough day, first sleeping late every night to watch movies and in between study nihongo, then to wake up early today so as not to be late, then walking a 20-min walk to get to the testing site, and not even meeting another Filipino there… Haayzzz..

So as I said, almost every night, if Im not tinatamad, I tried to take mock exams to refresh my mind and to know what I lack for the exams.. It turned out that I need to refresh my kanji and to study more vocabularies… So last week, every morning while walking going to the office, I read our reference books so that I can be refreshed of the uncommon words and to memorize others that I didnt memorized before… Then there were 2 nights that I took mock exams with my friend Dabbie.. Then last night, I tried reading the reference book from the start.. And good thing I did that, because most of the words that was included in the exam can be found in the early part of the books.. Then I slept at around 11:00pm because I have to wake up early the next day, and I dont want to be sleepy while taking the exams…

So I woke up at around 6am, but get out of my futon at 6.30am.. Then straight to the bathroom to take a shower, dress up, and prepare my snack while eating breakfast.. I really need to eat so Ill have energy while taking the exams.. Then we left the aprtment at around 7.50am and arrived at the station at around 8.08.. So we waited for the train to come, and while waiting, I took out my kanji papers, and started reviewing the kanjis.. It was really usefull because almost all of those I took emphasis on reviewing was in the exams.. So I am very lucky to study that part… Right after entering the train, a girl was looking at me.. I dont know if it was her first time to see a human or something, but she was following me wherever I went.. So I passed at her and she looked at the paper I was holding.. So she finally realized that I too am taking the JLPT like her.. Then I looked at her book and thought, wow, she must be taking a level 2 or a level 1 exam.. While I on the other hand will just take the level 3 exam.. hehe..

After 2 stations, I was able to sit down.. And there was an american and an asian sitting in front of me.. The american was holding the manual for the JLPT, maybe reviewing the What-Not-To-Do while taking the exam.. Meanwhile, the asian  was holding a notebook and reviewing kanjis and vocabs.. While me, I continued reviewing the Kanji.. And as I guessed, almost all of those who left the train with us are all taking the exam.. And they just stood up at the station while I ask where the platform for the next train that we need to take.. And voila, alot of foreigners, and I mean alot was there.. It was a mix of races, mostly asians, that will take the exam.. Then we were in the same train and walked the same path to the test site..

So the funny thing was that the station was an old type station with only 2 machines for entering and leaving.. So we were like stuck there because there were alot of people there.. ehehe.. and others were using the Fare Adjust because they didnt paid enough before.. So there was a hassle over the exit because of the Fare Adjust Machine that was near the exit.. Alas, we were able to get out..

Outside Tagatajinjamae Station

Outside Tagatajinjamae Station

So you can see alot of those that will take the exams as well.. After leaving the station, I dont know where to go.. So we just followed everyone, assuming that they will also go to our destination.. Hehe.. While walking, we cant help but notice that the place was very beautiful.. It was cold, the air was fresh and there were alot of birds and bees, flowers and trees.. ehehe.. Seriously, it was very clean.. Actually, it was not my first time to see that kind of setting in Japan, but it was nice to see that kind of environment for sometime..

Kirei!!!

Kirei!!!

So while walking, I took alot of pictures of the surroundings.. Thanks to the perfect lighting of the sun, it was not very hard to adjust the settings.. and it was taking pictures while walking because I didnt stop to take those photos.. hehe..

Follow the leader

Follow the leader

Wow, the sunlught was included in the picture.. :)

Well, I was laughing while while walking, since there were alot of us walking at the same time, going to the same location and in one straight line, I thought that we were like ants following the trail of the one in front us.. ehehe.. And where one goes, the next follows.. Just like when crossing the street, everyone did cross the street.. ehehe.. It was really funny.. ehehe.. Then after walking for  10 minutes, we were able to see the testing site..

Nagoya Keizai Daigaku

Nagoya Keizai Daigaku

No, its not that warehouse.. Its the big white building at the background of the picture.. The test site is named Nagoya Keizai Daigaku, where it means Nagoya Business University or something like that.. ehehe.. The University is very big.. And  my friend said that it has a resemblance with his school,  the UPLB.. Well, as you notice, the test site was still far, and took us another 10 minutes to get there..

Sign Board

Sign Board

So that is a sign board for the University.. And the path going to the University was very steep.. And there was a temple that we saw while walking.. Alot of bamboos and trees.. So it was really like Los Baños.. And then finally, we saw the entrance to the University.. Yey!!

Welcome Person

Welcome Person

So she was in charge of welcoming all the people that will take the exam.. ehehe.. The sign read “JLPT Exam Meeting Place”.. And it was kind of her to pose for the picture.. thanks..

Then the inside was very big.. And when I say big, its really big.. I was not able to enter all the buildings, because most of it were closed.. So we first took some rest and refresheed ourselves in the canteen..

This is Me.. ehehe

This is Me.. ehehe

So that is me.. Sitting at the canteen, nothing to do but to take pictures of the surroundings.. And looking for some familiar faces.. But failed.. ehehe.. And I never even meet a new friend.. Hmm.. Maybe it better because I will not be able to talk to them straightly with nihongo.. ehehe.. So it was just ok… ehehe..

Fifteen minutes before the exam, we left the canteen and proceeded to the room.. So our exam room was in the 4th floor, and the farthest from the stairs.. lucky us.. ehehe.. So upon entering, the room were already full of students, and I immediately searched for my seat number. Luckily, it was near the side of the room where I entered, and I was able to take my seat,.. But before taking my seat, I was really na-bobo.. Then nung nihatak ko, nagulat ako, narorotate.. So talagang inexamin ko pa kung sire ba or something.. Eh sabi ko baka ganito talaga and medyo parang napapahiya na ako, na kulang nalang eh higupin ako ng upuan sa katangahan.. Then nung umupo ako, ayun, medyo umusog siya paatras.. So parang automatic na sumusuksok sa may table yung upuan pag alang nakaupo.. Sayang inde ko na picturan or videohan.. Hehe.. Then as the rules were required, only the things that we will use for the exam are required to be on the table.. So here was what my table looked like:

pencils, eraser, permit and lead

pencils, eraser, permit and lead

Sorry for the pic, that was taken with my phone.. Anyways, as you guessed, the things that were required were the Pencils for answering (preferablly pink daw kaya yan yung nidala ko), erasers, and the permit.. So the permit has the permit number that should match the number on the table were you will seat.. And all the answer sheets have the permit number and name automatically written.. So we just need to check if the paper given to us was the right one..

As you will notice in the permit, in the number 3 row, the first exam was from 9.45 to 10.35.. That exam was about kanji and some uses of vocabularies.. For the kanji part, the kanji is written, and then you will choose the correct hiragana translation for it.. And vice versa.. And then for the vocabs, there will be a sentence, and you will select which vocab was best suited for it.. Also, there is a single word, and you will select which sentence has the correct usage for that vocab.. It was somewhat difficult because there were vocabs that I still dont know.. And as for the kanji part, there were I think two questions that I just guessed the answer..

The entrance of the University

The entrance of the University

Sorry, the pic was not related to the previous paragraph.. Its just that I was not able to take pictures of the classroom, the test guides, and the speakers because i was shy.. Or maybe ill violate some rules and be forced to leave the exam.. hehe..

So we just waiting for the instructions, and then a sound came our from the speakers.. Everyone, specially, the 5 girls in front of me was surprised, or shocked, and you will see their reactions of slightly lifting up their butts from their seats.. Nagulat talaga sila.. Kaya tawa ako ng tawa.. hehe.. Then there were announcements for the exam that was played 3 times, every start of each exams.. Then 15 minutes for the distribution of the exam questionnaires and answer sheets..

After the first exam, we had a short break.. So we went down, ate some sandwhich.. Talked about the exams.. give tips for the next exam.. Then we went back to the room.. So the procedure was just the same.. But this time the exam was called Listening Part..

Canteen

So the Listening exam is all about, well, Listening… There were 2 parts for the exam.. The first part was listening to the conversation of two Japanese and choose the picture that they are describing… Or just conversating, and choose the picture related to what the conversation is about… Then the second part is a bit hard.. Because you will have to listen carefully, then a question will be asked.. Well, the questions are announced before and after the conversation, so youll have an idea what to focus on the conversation.. ehehe.. Then what was hard was that, we have to shade both the correct and incorrect answers.. ehehe.. So it was time consuming.. ehehe.. After the exam, it was lunch time, so we had more time now compared to the first break..

So we went down again, and I ate the remainder of my sandwhich,  and then walked around the perimeter of the school… Well, It was not as big as to what I expected… But it took me around 30 minutes to take a full circle path of the school.. ehehe.. Here are some of those pictures..

Well, that was very funny.. Because I was shocked that the path going to this monument are grasses, and slippery plants.. So it was really hard to get to this monument.. And then after taking the picture,  I walked around it and saw that there was a sign saying that no one  is allowed to enter that part.. luckily no one saw me.. ehehe..

Well, those are some of the pictures that I took.. hehe… After touring myself around the school, I went back to the canteen to meet my friend and we went back to the classroom.. And we took the last exam..

After the exam, we went straight home.. We were very tired.. well, not that tired physically but mentally.. ehehe.. After going home, I cooked my dinner and ate.. And then watched a movie.. And then started writing this blog entry.. And thats it.. ehehe..

For the other news, I heard from my mother and my friend here, and some of the status in my YM List, that Manny won his fight against dela Hoya.. wow.. thats a really good news.. 8 rounds, technical knock out.. Congratz Manny.. ehehe..

So thats two schedules erased from my to-do list this month.. ehehe..

Well, Ill take a rest… coz my head aches right now.. Ja ne… ehehe

Funny Japanese Words

December 6, 2008 at 1:20 am (Bloopers, Japan, Random Thoughts)

We dont regret the things we Did.. We regret those we didnt….

Well, as a Filipino, it will be easy for us to learn and study Nihongo because of so many reasons.. One, the alphabet they have is like tagalog, example, a e i o u, ka ke ki ko ku, sa shi su se so, ta ti tu te to, etc, etc.. Some of the construction of sentences are also the same.. Like Maganda na Babae, Kirei na Josei.. And as you guessed, Maganda = Kirei and Babae = Josei.. And the funny thing is the “na” which is also used here in Japan… It is much easier to translate Tagalog to Nihongo compared to English to Nihongo.. Because as I said, we have almost-identical sentence conctructions.. Then being a Filipino, I find some of the Japanese words very amusing.. Amusing in a way that if they say those words in the Philippines, people will look at them of laugh at them.. Here are sample of those words that must not be said in the Philippines:

Kike!
yes with an exclamation point.. In tagalog, it means “Kepyas”.. But in Japanese, it means, Listen! in an imperative way..

~Kiki ni ~
Well, if I translate this in tagalog, it means “Ang kepyas ni ~”.. But in Japanese, the speaker’s purpose is to listen, whatever he will do (with regards to going or coming).. For example listen to concerts, or singing contests… Something like that..

Kippu
In tagalog, Yas-kep.. Well, ang ibig sabihin nyan sa Japanese ay Ticket.. ehehe.. Bus ticket, or movie ticket..

Waa
In the Philippines, this is said when you want to act childish and show that something bad happened.. like a crying baby .. But in here, that is said when you are amazed with something.. So in Japanese, waa is equivalent to Wow.. ehehe.. Since they dont have a single ‘w’ letter in their alphabet, they cannot create the word Wow.. maybe Wawa.. ehehe.. but its different..

Futa
in tagalog, Bitch!!… But no, that is a word to describe the covers of the bottles, or any covers.. Much like a lid..

~Beki ka?
in tagalog, Bakla ka? ehehe.. And in here, it is like, should it be ~?

Suso

Hiyas.. hehe,.. Saktong sakto naman tong word na to.. Pero dito, ang meaning nyan ay skirt, or trousers.. ehehe..

Sekiyu
Hehe, sa atin guard ang ibig sabihin nito, pero dito, ito ay Oil..

Senpuki (c/o Glad and Kuya Pot)
Uu nga, salamat kala glad at kay Kuya Pot, nailagay ko to.. Ang senpuki ay electric fan dito sa Japan.. Using it in a sentence, “Mahilig ka ba sa malaking Senpuki?” or “Inde ako mahilig sa Senpuki.. Mas gusto ko ang Aircon… Hehe..”

Baka (c/o Kuya Pot)

As of now, yan yung mga napansin ko na nakakatuwang Japanese words.. Kung may alam kayu, sabihin niyo sakin.. ehehe…
